Ein Freiflug im Kampfjet? Niemals! Stattdessen hat sich Karl Pilkington in dieser Episode der neuen Serie fürs „Whale Watching“ in Alaska entschieden. Auge in Auge mit dem größten Säugetier der Welt – das ist absolut sein Ding! Um ihrem Kumpel seinen Herzenswunsch zu erfüllen, scheuen Ricky und Stephen weder Mühen noch Kosten. Und damit es Karl auf seinem Trip nicht langweilig wird, haben sie einen schönen Spannungsbogen inszeniert: Der erste Wal begegnet ihm in der Küche einer Eskimo-Omi und kommt mundgerecht portioniert im Gefrierbeutel daher. Doch um ein lebendes Exemplar zu sehen, muss der Brite das Letzte aus sich herausholen: Nachts geht es mit dem Trawler aufs offene Meer zu den Grönlandwalen hinaus. Seekrank und in stinkender Ölkleidung kommt der gute Karl aber auch hier nur bedingt auf seine Kosten. (Text: DMAX)

Wer solche Freunde hat, braucht keine Feinde! Davon kann Karl Pilkington ein Lied singen. Der Brite ist der geborene Anti-Held und hat das Draufgängertum nicht gerade mit der Muttermilch aufgesogen. Im Gegenteil, Karl erinnert in seiner Art eher an Homer Simpson aus der einschlägigen Zeichentrick-Serie. Trotzdem schicken ihn seine „Freunde“ Ricky Gervais und Stephen Merchant auf große Weltreise und denken sich dabei haarsträubende Mutproben für ihn aus.
