Gemeinsam untersuchen sie auch die Ursprünge der bekämpften Monster um festzustellen, das sie mit einem Monolithen verbunden sind. Ciri gesteht, dass sie in Cintra einen Monolithen gestürzt hat. Vesemir entdeckt, dass Ciri älteres Blut hat, das lange als ausgestorben galt und Gerüchten zufolge eine Zutat in Mutagenen ist, die zur Herstellung von Hexern verwendet werden.

Derweil fliehen Yennefer und Cahir in den Norden, in die Stadt Oxenfurt, wo ein Pogrom gegen Elfen stattfindet. In Redania beginnt König Vizimir mit seinen engsten Vertrauten die Eroberung von Cintra zu planen. Währenddessen entdecken Yennefer und Cahir, dass eine wohlbekannte Figur Elfen nach Cintra schmuggelt. (Text: VT)
