Es ist der Hochzeitstag von Thomas und Rika Krogmann und Laurenz ist genervt. Die Vorstellung auf der Hochzeit seiner Eltern, das „Blumenmädchen“ geben zu sollen, ist mehr als peinlich. Außerdem gibt es Wichtigeres zu tun: Als Laurenz in der Speicherstadt einen schwer verletzten Schwan findet, der offensichtlich einem Tierquäler zum Opfer gefallen ist, sind sich die Pfefferkörner einig, dass diesem Verrückten das Handwerk gelegt werden muss.

Die Elfjährigen Fiete (Julian Paeth), Jana (Anna-Elena Herzog), Natascha (Vijessna Ferkic), Cem (Ihsan Ay) und Fietes achtjährige Schwester Vivi (Aglaja Brix) sind die Pfefferkörner eine Clique von Schülern, die gemeinsam Abenteuer erleben, Fälle lösen und Spaß haben. Außer Nesthäkchen Vivi wachsen alle allmählich aus der Kinderserie hinaus, und so gesellen sich ab Folge 32 nach und nach die neuen Pfefferkörner zu Vivi: Paul (Lukas Decker), Katja (Jana Fomenko), Johanna, genannt Jojo (Carlotta Cornehl), und Xiaomeng, Spitzname Panda (Tim Patrick Chan).
